In the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd a few blocks from her home in Minneapolis, Ihotu had the strong urge to write the story. Not just the story of the murder or the protests that enveloped her streets, but her own faltering process of finding her place within activism, ten years after giving up on having a voice.

What was originally a PDF of stories and photos taken through the days and weeks of the 2020 Uprising, turned into a series of online courses, and is now becoming a published book about her journey to tend to her heart, while also decolonizing her mind. As a cultural healer and doctor in training, she also offers practices, and the science or philosophy behind them, that can help you do the same.
